What is Solon Orphan Squirrel Rescue?

We are an all-volunteer home-based, state-licensed wildlife rehabilitation site specializing in reuniting orphan squirrels with their mothers, or raising orphaned baby squirrels for release back into the wild as soon as they are able.

SOSR has very limited cage space, and mostly serves as a referring agency to connect you with other volunteer wildlife rehabbers in your area, no matter where you live. While we specialize in gray, fox, red, black and flying squirrels, we are able to refer other kinds of wildlife to appropriate rehab facilities.

Depending on circumstances, we ask that you bring orphaned babies to us in Solon, once it has been determined for certain that their mothers cannot find them, have abandoned them, or are no longer able to care for them.

While donations are not required, donations are greatly welcomed to help us defer the high costs of squirrel formula, specialized feeding equipment, fruits, nuts and vegetables for young squirrels, and the high costs of gasoline.
